Does anybody have a few of these shows I can sample?

I like "annotated" stuff, and so I'm hoping this show will have little explanations of the music, and not just "bubble gum" classics.

Thanks!

Dave...this is an old LP, which is now transferred to CD. Here's a bit about it...no explaining about the music, on the records Laughing

Thanks for the referral, Gil.

(Just in case anyone thinks otherwise: This recording is something different than the OTR show I originally requested.)

Dave...I checked the web, for something called "Classical Music For People Who Hate Classical Music, on OTR", but didn't find anything. Are you sure this was the actual title of the OTR program?

OTRR shows the program airing 1957-8 (this was where I first saw it): http://otrr.org/FILES/Logs_txt/Classical%20Music%20for%20People%20Who%20Hate%20Classical%20Music.txt

I guess it is possible the shows are still in private collections only.

I recognize all the pieces...might be some misspellings on some. Is there any place that gives a description of the program...what each episode contains, etc.? On the 2nd one listed, they show "The Preludes"...this is, no doubt "Les Preludes", by Franz Liszt. It was his 3rd symphonic poem.

I always forget to look at his site, partly because I always get overwhelmed looking at most of his pages. I kinda wish this site's web designer would ease back on the throttle.

Thanks, Al. I'm guessing that since he does not have this on the MP3 page, it is only available on reel, cassette or something else.

I'm still hoping to hear a sample, if someone has one.

If you really want to laugh about classical music, I would recommend PDQ Bach.

Anybody have this album for download?

Gary, this is a GREAT show!

Short, little explanations with excerpts from several pieces. The host is a little comic in that he has a "Marlene Dietrich" way with his R's and the announcer pokes a little fun at how they are trying to convert people who hate classical music but are not against people who LIKE classical music.

I hope to find more eventually or be able to pay Jerry Haendiges to convert to mp3 for me. (Oh, boy! Another way to spend money! ) Rolling Eyes

Razilla, I'll take any of the PDQ Bach albums that you have. And strongly recommend them for light-hearted listening to anyone else on this thread.

I myself have always enjoyed the Spike Jones versions.
